Fairly FAIR Fees:
The conference fees are: 150 € for adults and 100 € for students.
They are based on a guaranteed MINIMUM PRICE: 120 € for adults and 80 € for students
+ PLUS SOLIDARITY PREMIUM: 30 € / 20 € to help financing the travel-costs of our guests from the South.
Fees cover all the conference costs, travel and accommodation are at participants’ charge.

Welcome to Saarbrücken!
The federal state capital Saarbrücken is the regional centre of the Saarland and is situated at the heart of the Saar-Lor-Lux region. The city has approximately 180.000 inhabitants and is strongly influenced by its proximity to France.
The conference venue is on the campus of the First Fairtrade University in Germany (2014): the Saar-University set amidst vast woods, some 5 km away from downtown. How to get to the Saarbrücker Campus?

FAIR-COMMITTED HOTELS IN SAARBRÜCKEN
Almost all sights of Saarbrücken are only a 5-minute walk away from the hotel Kaisershof. This two-star hotel is located very close to the river Saar. You do not just get home-made jams for breakfast, but you can also choose from a variety of homemade cakes during the day and of course Fair Trade coffee.
Price Range: from € 35 per night plus an extra € 8,90 for breakfast
How to get to the campus: To get to the university campus, take the bus from the bus stop “Rathaus”. It’s about a 15-minute walk and then a 10 to 15-minute journey. You could also take the tram to get to the bus stop “Rathaus” which would include a 4-minute walk plus a 3-minute journey. Additionally, you would also have to take the bus from “Rathaus” to get to the campus.
Hotel Madeleine is suitable for everyone who values sustainability. In the morning, you can enjoy a breakfast buffet with Fair Trade coffee and many organic products (also vegetarian and vegan products). The hotel is located in the city centre right next to the town church known as Johanneskirche.

How to get to the campus: To get to the university campus, take the bus from the bus stop close by, called "Rathaus" (German for "Town Hall"). It's about a 1-minute walk, plus a 10 to 15-minute journey.
Only a 3-minute walk separates you from the river Saar if you decide to stay in Motel One. This 3-star hotel, which opened in 2011, is located in the city centre of Saarbrücken between St. Johanner Markt and the State Theatre. It offers Fair Trade coffee and juice.

Leidinger is a 3-star hotel located in the heart of Saarbrücken. It offers Fair Trade coffee and soon Fair Trade bedsheets. Sustainability is an important part of its concept. Leidinger was the first hotel in Saarbrücken to provide packaging free breakfast and to use rain water for the toilet flush.

Hotel Am Triller
Hotel Am Triller is a family-owned hotel in a calmer part of Saarbrücken close to the well-known castle. From the upper floors you can enjoy a beautiful view of Saarbrücken. The hotel places great emphasis on organic growth and the Fairtrade concept, so you will even sleep in Fair Trade bedclothes if you stay there.

How to get to the campus: To get to the university campus, take the bus from the bus stop "Hansahaus/Ludwigskirche". It's about a 10-minute walk and then a 15-minute journey.
Youth Hostel Saarbrücken
Unfortunately, the youth hostel doesn’t offer any Fair Trade products. But of course, the beds are cheap and it's fairly close to the campus (approx. 2 km).

The currency is Euro (€). There are several cash machines on Campus, as well as international banks (e.g. Deutsche Bank) in the city centre of Saarbrücken.
The line voltage is 230 V. You might need a line adaptor for Euro-plugs.
Tap water is drinkable since water quality is very high. So, no need to buy bottled water.
On the Campus there is free WiFi accessibility. You will get access information on arrival.

In September, when summer is about to take its leave, you should be prepared for temperatures approximately between 20°C during the day and approximately 10°C at night. It might get even warmer on sunny days, but some rainfall is also possible.
